Beer Garden Sundays

Pretty much the moment it became "spring" the local beer gardens opened up and I'll be the first to say I was stoked. I managed to go to a beer garden once in the fall just before they closed down for the winter. Now, I'm fully taking advantage while I can.

I hereby declare every Sunday until sometime in October to be Beer Garden Sunday. (Though one shouldn't take this to mean other days are excluded from possible beer garden visits.) The best part is, I'm walking distance from one and it has basically become my second favorite place in Prague.

Who doesn't love sitting in the sun while drinking beer?

One of my favorite things about Prague is the highly relaxed attitude toward drinking. Drinking in public is not only not frowned upon but basically encouraged. It's absolutely acceptable to walk into the beer garden and ask for a beer to go. They'll hand it to you in a plastic tumbler and then you can walk out to enjoy the rest of the park.

Also acceptable: Stop at the store and bring your own.

I admit most of the time I do simply stay in the garden and stake out a picnic table. But there's something about just knowing that you can take your beer with you. Which is what I intend to do today. Today I'm getting a beer and going to sit on the hill in the sun with a beautiful view of Prague so that my legs can attempt to soak up some rays and I can read some Czech literature.

That's right, I'm reading Czech Literature.

Also, Happy Mother's Day to all the mom's out there but especially to mine. I love you and I miss you. We'll have to work on getting you to Prague so you can enjoy the beer garden love. I know you don't drink beer, so we'll get you a deliciously pink raspberry lemonade and some vodka.

Enjoy your Sunday, folks. If you need me, I'll be at the beer garden.

  1. If only I had stayed in Prague long enough to enjoy the Beer Gardens with you!!! :(

I'll be back though, and we'll partake in lots of beer.
