Preparing for Texas

I always leave packing to the last minute.

I'm going back to Texas in two days and I haven't even started. My room is trashed and I don't know where to start.

This is all further complicated by the fact that I have to choose which things to take home and then which things to leave here. I have stuff at my parents house in Austin, but I can't for the life of me remember what. Apparently there are winter clothes there?
Oh and then to make it even more of a pain, there is the lovely, unpredictable Texas weather. It's supposed to be beautiful and in the mid-70s when I arrive in Austin. Of course, because we don't have autumn there. But you know good and well before I leave there will also be multiple days of 20° weather and probably at least one ice storm.

It's hard to pack for that kind of weather in one back pack. Remember, I already had trouble with trying to pack for five weeks in SE Asia followed by a week in London in that backpack. That ended in me going shopping in London (at the best store on Earth!).

Once I'm all packed I have to deal with the logistics of getting it to where I'm going to store it. That's one of the moments when it really sucks to not have a vehicle of some sort.

I always manage, though, you guys know that.

But why am I complaining, I get to go to Texas for two months!

I have started preparing myself for Texas. I've put myself on a mini-diet so that when I get there and start eating double my weight in Tex-Mex and BBQ I'll only gain a few pounds. I can accept a small amount of weight gain if it means I get to eat nothing but Tex-Mex and BBQ for the next two months.

I've also taken to listening to old school country. I will say I'm generally not much of a country girl, but I love the old stuff (thanks to my best friend Meghan). So me and Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard and David Allen Coe are going to party it up while I pack.
